How does the aquaponics grow bed work?
You place the grow bed on a stable base frame, e.g. directly above the fish or sump tank, and fill it with suitable grow media such as plant clay or clay granules . Then you provide a water supply from your fish or sump tank (e.g. aquarium) through a hose and a feed pump . The water supply is regulated with a ball valve with an inflow of between 5-15 l/min .
The integrated Bell Siphon drains the grow bed completely automatically once the water level is reached and directs the water directly back into the tank. The grow bed then fills up again. This alternating high and low tide process provides the plants with the nutrients they need and the water is cleaned and filtered at the same time .
