Buy fish food for fish in aquaponics

Do you plan to keep fish that are typical for aquaponics, such as tilapia, predatory catfish such as Clarias garipinus or Silurus glanis in your system? Or are you thinking of keeping typical cold-water fish such as carp, tench or just ornamental fish to start with?

Here you can choose from high-quality fish food pellets and sticks for different types of fish. When it comes to fish food in particular, you should always pay attention to the quality, composition and origin of the food. In our opinion, chemicals such as ethoxquin have no place in fish food.

Finding the right fish food size

Fish grow at different rates and, depending on their stage of development, need the right size of food to be able to use the food efficiently. The smaller your fish are, the smaller the food should be. In principle, you need fewer smaller food pellets than larger ones, as the fish increase their food requirements during the development phase and, for efficient development, the fish food size should "grow" with the size of the fish. As a general guide: 0-5cm (1mm), 5-10cm (2mm), 10-20cm (3mm), 20cm+ (4mm) As this can vary depending on the type of fish, we will provide you with more detailed recommendation tables in the near future. Until then, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

      Choosing the right packaging size

The packaging size for each feed size is often a difficult decision. Depending on the stage of development and size of the fish, as well as the operating period of your system, you should not buy too much or too little feed to avoid wastage. That's why we offer you the option of buying in flexible packaging sizes. This means you can buy in bulk, but also flexibly buy smaller amounts of feed. The feed is delivered in reusable containers that can be closed with a lid, meaning it lasts longer and is protected from vermin and moisture.

Alternatives or supplements to feed pellets and industrial feed

Even though we offer fish food here, we want to continue to reduce the need for industrial feed in the near future and would like to recommend alternatives - at least as a supplement. Breeding your own feed insects such as the larvae of the black soldier fly (Black Soldier Fly Larvae) or mealworms is particularly useful for predatory fish. Fish such as tilapia or carp also consume plant-based protein such as feed lentils or vegetable scraps. So if you want to become less dependent on industrial feed, you can also look into the possibility of breeding feed insects or duckweed.
