High nutrient content | High-quality food larvae for fish, poultry & reptiles | Turn leftovers from the kitchen into high-quality insect protein

The larvae of the black soldier fly (BSF) process organic waste in a very short time. The adult larvae remain as high-quality feed insects and nutrient-rich residual substrate for fertilizing your vegetable plants.

With this BSFL breeding starter colony you can easily start breeding:

  1. Place the larvae in your OFERA BSFL farm and feed them with your organic waste until they reach the adult stage.
  2. Let the larvae pupate and then place them in an insect cage . Under optimal conditions ( >20°C ), with plenty of light and sufficient humidity (>70%), the flies will hatch and begin to mate.
  3. Each female then lays between 300-600 new eggs, from which fresh larvae hatch.

This breeding starter colony contains about 1500-2000 larvae (approx. 300g). If you want to build a large fly colony right away, you can also start with several starter colonies.
