When composting with compost worms, there should always be a protective covering layer on the worm bed or in the worm composter over the active worms and the compost material. A covering layer made of natural paper scraps prevents drying out , keeps light and UV radiation, which are dangerous for the worms, away , prevents the formation of odors and protects against the colonization of fruit flies or other undesirable insects .
This substrate is also used to bind moisture and mix with fruit or vegetable scraps to provide the worms with an optimal, not too humid environment in the composter.
Shreds of untreated natural paper are very suitable for worm composting for the following reasons:
100l of chips are enough to cover about 5 square meters or about 10-15 layers in the worm composter .
Create a covering layer about 5cm high over your active compost worms and the compost material in the worm composter or worm bed. This will prevent unwanted fruit flies or other insects from settling there and will create a perfect climate for your hardworking helpers. Even if your compost gets too wet, you can use these paper flakes to regulate the moisture, as the paper fibers absorb, store and evenly release moisture.
50l or 100l shreds made from recycled , untreated cardboard . Delivered in a compostable box made from natural paper.
